1. Coming up on Sunday...
At the 10.30am service, we will be continuing the series on Mark's Gospel with George Ryan preaching on Mark 14:32-52, 'Transforming Power'. Everyone's welcome to join us in the building or on Facebook Live. Children can be dropped off to the Children's Church team in the main hall from 10.15am for loads of fun with games, songs, Bibles stories, crafts and more!

At the 6.15pm service we'll be starting a new series, 'Opening Up Revelation'. As we dive into this book of the Bible, we'll glimpse past, present and future from Heaven’s perspective and encounter a fresh vision of Jesus: the Lamb who was slain, the Lord who reigns forever, the eternal One who speaks with a voice like the sound of a waterfall and holds the people of God safe in His hands. We begin with Louise preaching on Revelation 1-3, ''The Lord who Reveals'. Come along for worship, Word and prayer, with refreshments from 6pm.

At the evening service next week, 9 October, we will have a worship and prayer night, with a short talk on the worship and prayer in Revelation 4 and 5 and dedicated time for intercession in small groups or individually. If you don't usually come along to the evening service, you are especially welcome that night.

Thank you to Eileen Ross for this week's flowers.
2. Church Social - Friday 14 October
Come along to our church social for an evening of fun among church friends. Get to know new people and fellowship with church family. Friday 14th October 7pm - bring whatever drinks and snacks you'd like on your table! No cost - just bring yourself! Our evening will be the West Kirby  "Generation Game" - come prepared for fun and laughter and joining in.
3. Conversations about LGBT issues
Please respond by Sunday if you are not in a group and would like to join in
We are blessed that fellowship groups are a safe space for many to speak openly and so, in response to a need for the church to talk more about LGBT issues, the elders have invited George Ryan to visit each fellowship group this autumn to facilitate open, loving conversations about LGBT issues. These visits are not to teach or to direct the church to a new position; there is no underlying agenda to reach a single point of view. These visits are about breaking the silence and listening to one another.

If you are in a fellowship group, your group leader will let you know what date George is visiting, and will offer you with some material to read in advance of the discussion.

If you are not in a fellowship group, you are very welcome to take part too. Please sign up here by the end of September to join in a facilitated conversation, either by visiting an existing fellowship group you have a link with, or at a one-off get-together with George and others.

George has already facilitated this conversation for the elders and staff, and then for the fellowship group leaders, and we found that there is room for us to disagree with grace and still be one church. We pray you will find the same and enjoy this opportunity to share more together. If you have any concerns, please contact your elder or fellowship group leader, as appropriate.
4. Join the Church Membership
If you're planning to make West Kirby URC your spiritual home, we would love to invite you to explore becoming a member of the church. Please contact Tony or Liz Wilson (two of our elders) tonwil08@me.com / elizabethmwilson@btinternet.com to express your interest or visit https://urc.org.uk/your-faith/joining-the-urc/ to find out more.
5. Thank You!
Kath writes, "Thank you very much for the generous gifts you gave me at the Church Meeting to celebrate my ten years of work at West Kirby URC. And thank you for writing such kind messages that I'll be reading and re-reading as we continue to love and serve and grow God's church together. Ten years on, it's still such a privilege, and I'm so grateful for all the opportunities and encouragement I receive from the church and the wider community - thank you all".
6. "Give Love in a Box this Year"
If you would like to either contribute to, or make up your own Christmas Shoebox, to be given out by Teams4U in poor communities in Eastern Europe this Christmas, please pick up a leaflet and a flatpack box (or decorate your own) from the back of Church. There is also a large container to collect completed boxes or donations of single items (by end October, early November). These boxes are always very warmly received.
Any questions please contact Jill Jackson (07791177303)
7. Could you join the Car-Park team?
Thanks to Beryl for this photo of the car-park steward's view through the seasons
As part of our security agreement with the school, we need a steward on duty when we use the car-park, but at the moment the stewards team is only small. Could you join for the morning and/or afternoon service, potentially doing one Sunday in six on a rota-basis?

The team say this is an enjoyable role, being the first welcoming face that drivers see when they arrive for church, and being a face in the community too, greeting passers-by. Please let Tony Wilson know if you could help, or fill in a serving postcard. Thank you.
8. Wirral Foodbank - Donations & Prayers
Our friends at Wirral Foodbank continue to appreciate our prayer support and donations. There is a collection bin in the Church by the Offering table (Black Bin) for your Foodbank food donations. Thank you for your support.
9. Workshops at Mersey Synod Meeting
All welcome. If you have any questions, please talk to Louise.
