2. Thy Kingdom Come is underway...
Collect your free Thy Kingdom Come
resources from the entrance lounge

There are prayer journals, Bible study books, prayer cords, cards
and children's story books - all free from Thy Kingdom Come!

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians to pray each day from Ascension (26 May) to Pentecost (5 June) for five friends to come to know Jesus. Since it began in 2016, God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a global movement and now churches from over 80 different denominations and traditions in nearly 90% of countries join in and we will play our part too, lighting up the world in prayer. Please collect your prayer guides and more from the entrance lounge.

“In praying 'Thy Kingdom Come' we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities."
Archbishop Justin Welby

3. Thank You & Drop-In for Ukrainians
Liz Wilson writes,

"Nika and Daria(Dasha) completed the Coastal Walk last Sunday. The photo shows them on the left with 2 other Ukrainians at the finishing line. They want to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored them. They have raised an amazing £500 in cash donations plus more from online donations from a wide variety of sources. They have been overwhelmed by people’s kindness since they came to West Kirby. They are settling in well and making friends.
The drop in welcome meeting for Ukrainians at WKURC will be starting on June 7th from 1.30 – 3.00pm. Helpers to arrive 12.45pm if possible. Any donations of cake will be gratefully received. This will be a weekly meeting for as long as it is felt to be needed. To help with the planning it would be helpful if those who have volunteered could give me their availability for June and July. No one is expected to be there every week. Many thanks, Liz Wilson"

Maxine, our Hall Bookings Secretary, will be away from 4-16 June, so please contact her in advance with any booking enquiries. Liz Matthews will be monitoring the booking email ( and phone (07933 167307) whilst Maxine is away, so do use those contact details if needed.

Many thanks for your financial gifts to support the life of the church, 'Connecting your Community to Christ'. Information about giving to West Kirby URC is available here.

8. Pentecost in Liverpool - Sunday 5 June
The traditional Pentecost service returns to Liverpool 40 years after Pope John Paull II made his historic visit to both cathedrals in 1982. Our ecumenical Pentecost celebrations also form part of our celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.

The celebrations start with an act of worship on the steps to the Metropolitan Cathedral. Worship continues with an all age family service at Liverpool Cathedral starting at 3:45 pm. Following this we have the Big Picnic for the Platinum Jubilee.

With big games and fun activities provided by In Another Place we invite you to bring a picnic and join in the fun. We will have food and refreshments available from the Welsford Bistro.

3:00 pm                Act of worship at foot of Metropolitan Cathedral
3:45 pm                All age worship at Liverpool Cathedral
4:00 pm                Big Picnic starts inside Liverpool Cathedral

Everyone is welcome!
9.  And Finally...
Yesterday, 26 May, marked 140 years since the formation of our church community. The work of 'West Kirby Presbyterian Church of England' began in 1882 with a desire to see the Gospel preached and heard in the up and coming township of West Kirby. What followed was a time of prayerful and enthusiastic growth, rooted in the personal faith of a relatively small group of people determined to let people hear of the atoning work of Jesus. The "Anniversary Hymn" below was written by the Minister, Rev. Patrick Kirkland, for the church's silver jubilee in May 1907 and went on to be published nationally.
