MAIN STREET LIVING  airs each Sunday at 9 a.m. on WFTC Channel 29/9-2 with an episode of This is the Life. This week’s episode of This is the Life is called “God of Love,” and it illustrates how all Christians have responsibilities. It is a cross we bear.

The worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Travis Lauterbach from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Backus, MN. His message, “Your Subsitute,” will be based on Mark 1:4-11. For more information or to watch the program, go to mainstreetliving.com and select the “Twin Cities” tab.

STEWARDSHIP  Without the Holy Spirit, we could not acknowledge Jesus as the Lord of our lives or live our lives as God-pleasing stewards.  The Apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says ‘Jesus is accursed!’ and no one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except in the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3).  By grace, then, as called and equipped believers, empowered by the Holy Spirit to be stewards, we can serve as Sunday school teachers, sing in the choir, serve as ushers, give generously, and spend time with the lonely and sick.  By our own reason or strength, we can’t be the stewards God wants us to be.  In Christ, we are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17).  The Holy Spirit continually reminds us that God initiates all things.  Our stewardship is a response to what God has already done for us in Jesus.
