Family Square Dance  in Iona
Join us in Iona for a family square dance, Saturday, October 15 at 7:30-10:00pm. 

This is an all ages dance and everyone is welcome. 

Music that evening by Howie MacDonald and Beverly MacLeod.

Don't know how to square dance? Don't worry someone will be there to help teach you!

Gaelic Conversation Group 
Scottish Gaelic conversation group hosted by Emily McEwan. Meeting weekly at 6:30 pm at The Cottage Café - An Teachín, Paddler's Cove, 300 Prince Albert Rd, Dartmouth, NS. Drinks & snacks can be purchased at the café. (If you don't see us outside on the patio, knock on the door!)

We've set this up as a weekly event, but please double-check the listing HERE each week before coming! We might have to cancel a few here & there.
Pop-Up Bookshop And Book Launch
 
10:00am-3:00pm - Drop by the Cottage Café patio any time to shop Bradan Press's locally-published books in English, Gaelic, and French! We can accept cash, debit, or credit.
 
 
1:00pm - Join us as we launch the expanded 2nd edition of FIONN MacCOOL AND THE SALMON OF KNOWLEDGE by Terri M. Roberts, with a cover by Etta Moffatt and brand new illustrations by Kyla Williams! This children's picture book tells the story of why the great Gaelic hero Fionn MacCool sucks his thumb...and the story of the salmon on the Nova Scotia Gaelic flag! Join us for audience participation readings in English & Gaelic, book signing, free colouring pages & more.
 
We'll have a few seconds of various titles for sale at discounts of 10-20% (lightly scuffed & dinged), along with Gaelic flags and Celtic-style leather bookmarks.
 
Feel free to bring a song or musical instrument for a Gaelic céilidh!

The Cottage Café will be open and refreshments available to purchase.

Gaelic Intensive Class in North Sydney
 
Scottish Gaelic Intensive in North Sydney, Cape Breton this fall!
Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm, November 12 to December 3.
$100 for 16 hours of instruction.

Oidhche Shamhna Gàidhealach
Halloween Gaelic Weekend 
This weekend explores Gaelic traditions and customs around Oidhche Shamna/Halloween including fuarag, pumpkin/turnip carving, and spooky storytelling around the fire. Gaelic classes are available for all ages and levels.
Instructors:
Lili Watson – Youth (Age 7 – 14)
Joyce MacDonald – Beginner
Angus MacLeod – Intermediate
Hector MacNeil – Advanced

Also, there will be a book launch that is open to the public for Dorsan & Finn MacCool and the Salmon of Knowledge held at 6:30pm in MacKenzie Hall on Saturday, October 22nd.

Gaelic Day in New Glasgow
 

Gaelic Day with Stacey MacLean at Àite nan Gaidheal in the Highland Sq Mall, New Glasgow.

Date: Oct. 29th 2022
Time:10:00am-3:00pm
Cost: $30.00

Please arrive by 9:45 as registration is on the day of the event, coffee/ tea will be provided and lunch will be on your own. 
 

Cape Breton Stepdance Lessons

Hey HRM folks! Come out and try a class in Cape Breton Stepdance! Lots of fun and great exercise... classes are filling up quickly!

Highland Village is hosting upcoming pop-up Gàidhealtachd, the dates are June 24th, July 8th, August 5th, September 16th, October 21st, and are resuming their weekly pop-ups in November.

Gàidhlig air an Rèidio | Gaelic on the Radio


CBFM has Feasgar còmhla ri Cailean Dòmhnullach! The show will be in Gaelic and will run Monday-Friday evenings from 7-9! Colin is the Director of Gaelic at Colaisde na Gàidhlig and the show starts Monday evening!
