Parks and Recreation Connecting Tempe
November 2019
HARVEST HAPPENINGS
It’s coming. The music. The decorations. Though the holidays are just around the corner, there are still plenty of fall events and activities to enjoy throughout November. From a free party and parade to a golf challenge and more, this issue highlights them all!
It has been two decades since Tempe Town Lake opened and we want the community to help us celebrate as Tempe Town Lake Turns 20!
Join us Saturday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of free family fun, featuring live music, entertainment, food trucks and more.
With tons of classes and programs offered throughout the year, Tempe Parks and Recreation provides lots of great ways to play, learn, live and grow. Be sure to check out our class demos. The whole family can try something new without breaking the bank.
Serve it up on our portable pickleball court or shake it in a Zumba class. Make some waves on Town Lake in a kayak or on a SUP. Wind down with Yoga at the Marina. Catch a pass at the Play Mobile. Parks and Recreation will be a part of the action with activities and entertainment for all.
Show off your skills at the Fall Drive, Pitch, and Putt Golf Challenge on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Ken McDonald Golf Course. Youth ages 5-17 years of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in the free event. Participants will receive mini-lessons in driving, pitching and putting before taking the challenge in each skill area. The event runs from noon - 5 p.m. with sessions beginning every 30 minutes. The event is free but registration is required, sign up today at tempe.gov/YouthSports.
Make a slam dunk at the K-8th Fall Youth Hoops Clinic on Saturday, Nov. 9 and 16, at the North Tempe Multigenerational Center. The clinic is a two-weekend experience where young student-athletes can learn and nurture fundamental basketball skills. Registration is $36 and includes a clinic T-shirt. Coach Key and his team have tailored the hoop stations to fit each grade and skill level although no experience is necessary. Register today at tempe.gov/brochure
The Play Mobile is rolling into Tempe parks this November. The crew brings a van full of sports equipment, games, snacks, music and more to get kids movin' and groovin' after school. It’s totally free and fun for all. For afterschool action find us out and about from 3-6 p.m. each day.
