The Insanity of God.”  An amazing book. I just finished. Reading that is.  I will need a great deal of time to process the reflections forced upon me by the true stories of the author. If you watched “Black Hawk Down” about the military rescue operation in Mogadishu…the author was in Mogadishu at that very time leading a relief organization that he and his wife founded.

The author, who by the way uses a fictional name to protect the safety of those whose lives are part of his faithful desperate accounts, tells story after story of faith in the face of the most severe forms of life threatening persecution.  People who calmly share that it is not a question of IF they will be arrested and imprisoned, but WHEN.  So many places around the world where evil seems to triumph over the prayers of the faithful.  I grieve for the faithful whose prayers seem unanswered as evil seemingly triumphs over their prayers and trusting obedience.

One of my favorite quotes from one of the persecuted faithful that the author interviewed: “Don’t ever give up in freedom what we would never give up in persecution…and that is our witness to the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!”

I finished the book. The story will linger with me.

To our schedule…this afternoon we left our fifth wheel affectionately nicknamed “the range” safely parked at Light and Life Park in Lakeland. We are now at a hotel at the Tampa airport.  Very early tomorrow (Wednesday) we start a series of flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth, to Tokyo, to Bangkok where upon arriving Thursday we spend the night awaiting yet another Covid test, and then (hopefully) on Friday we board our flight into our fifth and final airport at Chiang Mai.

In December we plan to fly into Kathmandu, Nepal but more on that later.

Ellen and I are humbled, challenged, encouraged and motivated to carry on with the work we feel called to participate in with our mission in SE Asia.  It is a joy to serve such faithful people who daily face all too real persecution.

Thank you for your support, and allowing us this great privilege.

A friend,

Roger and Ellen
