Jubilee,

We have a reputation. Someone calls or stops by the church to ask for food, clothes, or some other need at least once a week. And, it's almost always the same. He or she will point in some random direction and say, "They said you help people, so I was wondering if you could help me with _____."

There are many labels one can carry, and many things for which we could be known: wealth, connections, numbers, affiliations....

But, I have to say that I am so very grateful to hear that we "help people."

Happy to be associated with you,
Kelsey Luke

Prayer Focus

“How does one worship in the midst of this uncertainty...? (....) In spite of our questions of "where are you God?" and "What are you doing?" In spite of the unknowns. In spite of our loss. In spite of difficult situations. In spite of our pain. In spite of our fear.

We run to Jesus. We don't need to hide. (....) That is one reason we are here to worship. Not as an act of optimism, but as an act of trust. Because of what God has done for us in the past and the belief of what he will do in the future.

We run to Jesus to be encouraged, to be empowered, to be equipped, even if for just one more day or one more week."

- from Marcus Diener's call to worship 8/8/21

This week we pray for...

Joel requests prayer for medical professionals who are being stretched and strained by the rising number of COVID-19 cases in our state and county.

Charlotte Cermak requests prayer as she recovers from a sinus infection.

Williams Betancourt requests prayer for his family as they quarantine until they can get tested for COVID-19 today.

Please pray for peace and strength for the families of the victims of the 3 fatal shootings that happened recently in Meridian. Let's also pray for peace, healing, wholeness in our community.

Please pray for students, parents, teachers, administrators and all those who are adjusting to a return to school. Let's also pray for wisdom for leaders and safety for students and teachers as they navigate school during the pandemic.

If you have any prayer requests you would like shared in the pastoral prayer time of this Sunday's worship service, please send them to Joel Diener or Kelsey Luke.

We feel it is important to acknowledge the unfortunate reality that COVID-19 cases are on the rise in our state and county. We are monitoring the situation along with Jubilee's Elders. Given recent recommendations from the MS Department of Health we recommend:
  • You consider getting the COVID-19 vaccine if you are eligible.
  • All congregants, even those who are vaccinated, over the age of 5 consider wearing a mask for Sunday services and other indoor church events.
Jubilee, please let us know if you test positive for COVID-19 after attending an in-person Sunday service or other church event.  To reiterate the policy established by the Elders at the beginning of the pandemic, if individuals from separate households test positive for COVID-19 after worshiping in person at Jubilee, this will constitute a Jubilee outbreak and we will take a two week pause worshiping only on Zoom during that time.

Please direct questions or concerns to Joel Diener or Kelsey Luke.

For anyone who does not feel safe worshiping in person, Sunday services will continue to be broadcast live on Zoom for the foreseeable future.

Do you have announcements to share with Jubilee?
Please call, text or email Kelsey Luke.
