Jubilee,

I'm so grateful for the love you have shown and the support you have provided to my in-laws, Robert and Alison Cornwell. For those who don't know, their house was heavily damaged in a fire a number of years ago. They have worked hard to rebuild for several years, only to see their home in ruins once again due to the storm surge of Hurricane Ida. They have spent their lives lending a helping hand and providing hospitality to others, so thank you for helping provide the help and hospitality that they now need.

I have only been serving as part of the transitional ministry team for a few weeks, and I have already witnessed many examples of this congregation's commitment to service and generosity during that time. Your support for the Cornwell family is just one example.

Thank you, Jubilee, for striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. As all congregations do, we have our flaws, but I think one of our strengths is faithfulness to our calling as Christ followers to love our neighbors.

Grateful,
Joel Diener

Meditation

Healer of our ev’ry ill,
light of each tomorrow,
give us peace beyond our fear,
and hope beyond our sorrow.

You who know our fears and sadness,
grace us with your peace and gladness;
Spirit of all comfort, fill our hearts.

In the pain and joy beholding
 how your grace is still unfolding,
give us all your vision, God of love.

Give us strength to love each other,
ev’ry sister, ev’ry brother;
Spirit of all kindness, be our guide.

You who know each thought and feeling,
teach us all your way of healing;
Spirit of compassion,
fill each heart.

- from "Healer of Our Every Ill" by Marty Haugen

This week we pray for...

Theresa Chisolm requests prayer for her father, George Godwin. He has been diagnosed with advanced cancer.

Provision, strength, and peace for those affected by Hurricane Ida.

Bonnie Allen requests prayer for her father, Royce, who is having a variety of health struggles.

Charlotte Cermak requests prayer for her friend Jeff who is sick with COVID-19 and for her friend Rusty who has cancer.

Jenny Bowers is thankful that George and Jack, 2 West Lauderdale High School students that were in a serious car accident, are now home from the hospital. She requests prayer for them as they continue to recover.

Jenny also requests prayer for a friend of her sister's who recently suffered a spinal injury.

Celebrate...

Lindsay Diener's parents, Robert and Alison Cornwell, are very grateful for the progress that the work teams from Jubilee and Bethel Assembly of God in Baton Rouge made this past Saturday on mucking out and gutting their house that was damaged from Hurricane Ida.

Sherene Broome sends the following:

I miss you all already! We are getting settled in. Today Gabriel came and helped move most of the heavy stuff in, and my friend that lives in Maryland drove up to help us with the move. She left after lunch, and Sebastian and I made our first Walmart run. I cooked our first dinner in our new apartment. It’s quiet just me and Sebastian, it’s weird but nice. Big day tomorrow, finalizing his school registration… keep on praying for us Jubilee, we feel it from 1200+ miles away! ❤️ Sherene and Sebastian
