This Week at Jubilee

January 4, 2021
Here's what's happening this week at Jubilee...
Sunday

Worship with Jubilee through Zoom at 10:45am.  Elaine will preach on Mark 1:4-11, The Baptism of Our Lord.

On Sunday, instead of our traditional prayer walk, we will experience a video, Prayers for Jubilee.  Thanks to Joel Diener for creating this compilation of some of Jubilee’s prayers for 2021.  Join us Sunday for zoom worship and for this special prayer service.

We have been on the road this Advent Season.  Now that this lovely season is over, the work of Christmas begins.

When the song of the angels is stilled,

When the star in the sky is gone,

When the kings and princes are home,

When the shepherds are back with their flock,

The work of Christmas begins:

To find the lost,

To heal the broken,

To feed the hungry,

To release the prisoner,

To rebuild the nations,

To bring peace among people,

To make music in the heart.

(from Voices Together)

Ready to begin the work of Christmas,

Duane and Elaine

A prayer exercise for the New Year:

  • What is one thing from 2020 you want to release?
  • What is a gratitude from the past year?
  • What is your hope for 2021?

We want to hear from you, Jubilee.  Let us know about your hope for 2021.

Duane and Elaine Maust

This week we pray for...

Charlotte Cermack asks for prayer for Don, who is seriously ill with covid.  He is being slowly weaned off oxygen.

Nona Romero asks for payer for her mom, Lynette.  Lynette has a tumor on her back.  She has been hospitalized this week and is waiting for test results on the biopsy.

Celebrate...

Hakeem Doss texts:  “Thank ya’ll for the prayer.  My cousin is at home now but he is still in a little pain.  God is good.”

We thank God that Williams Betancourt’s father’s health is improving.  He is still hospitalized but has been moved to a room.  Lupita shares that they are grateful to God and for your prayers.

Brenda Buxton, “My son and grandson are doing great!  Thanks for your prayers and love.”

If you have any prayer requests you would like shared in the pastoral prayer time of this Sunday's worship service, please send them to Duane or Elaine Maust.
Weekday Worship:

Check out the thoughts about the visit of the Magi in Advent at Home, the Advent devotional guide we’ve been using together this holiday season.

Advent at Home
Preparing for Sunday:

Read Mark 1:4-11 – The Baptism of our Lord

As we consider Jesus’ baptism, we remember our own:

  • What details do you remember from that day?
  • How did the water feel?
  • Who was there to celebrate with you?
  • What promises did you make?
  • How have those promises shaped your life?

Worship with us on Sunday Jubilee!

Many thanks to Kelsey Luke for creating this video describing Jubilee’s ministries.  This video was requested from Pigeon River Mennonite Church, a supporter of Jubilee.
