I stop by his house once a week.  When he comes to meet me he calls me “Dad-do.”  His simple happy ways make me happy.  He belongs to Jubilee.

A judge gave Jubilee responsibility for his affairs; his check, bills and medical care.  Usually this means a weekly check in and giving him his weekly cash.  Sometimes if he needs a phone or his bike fixed more time is involved.

This ministry is meaningful to me because I am making it possible for him to live on his own.

Who feels a call to pick up leadership of this ministry?  The Committee that shares his care is searching for someone to become the point person.  If you are interested, please contact me.

Glad to serve,
Duane Maust

Prayer of Abandonment to God

Father, I abandon myself into Your hands.
Do with me what you will,
Whatever You do, I will thank You.
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only Your will be done in me,
As in all Your creatures,
And I’ll ask nothing else, my Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my spirit;
I give it to you with all the love of my heart,
For I love You, Lord
And so need to give myself,
To surrender myself into Your hands
With a trust beyond all measure,
Because You are my Father.

This week we pray for...

Please pray for Brett Scrugg’s wife, Mal, and her family.  Her grandmother died Sunday morning.
Milli Floyd asks for prayer.  She will have partial knee replacement surgery on Monday, November 30.
Please pray for Roy Jones’ mother who is hospitalized with covid 19.
Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in Honduras who are suffering terribly from the effects of the hurricane.  Pray especially that relief access can reach the village of Los Plancitos.
Please pray for the Broome family some of whom have covid and all of whom are quarantined.  Sabastian says, “Don’t get Covid!  Pray for us and stay safe.  Seriously!”
Jenny Bowers asks for prayer for Chris’s parents.  His father’s Parkinson’s Disease is affecting him in new and difficult ways.  Also pray for Chris’s mother who is caring for Chris’s dad and has her own difficult health issues.
Deweese Turner calls Jubilee to pray for an end to covid 19.

Jubilee’s Food Pantry, God’s Groceries, receives between 750-1,000 pounds of surplus Walmart Groceries each Monday.

If you have any prayer requests you would like shared in the pastoral prayer time of this Sunday's worship service, please send them to Duane or Elaine Maust.

To learn more or if you have questions, talk to Elaine Maust.

Preparing for Sunday:

Advent 1 – On the Road to Restoration

As I think about the theme of restoration, I remember when I realized early on in my cabinet career that restoration was not for me.  I tried to restore a Deacon’s bench for a customer and discovered it was too tedious for me.

Read Psalm 80 and wonder with me how God wants to restore us during Advent.

Due to Covid-19, MS Food Network is unable to offer as many groceries for our food pantry. Please help us continue providing for our neighbors, especially this holiday season. If you can help, please bring dry goods to Jubilee (e.g. canned vegetables and fruit, rice, pasta, canned soups, etc...) You may place them in the tubs in the back of the sanctuary. Thank you for your generosity!

Jubilee’s Food Pantry needs your empty grocery bags.

MCC asks for support for Central American hurricane recovery. Not one, but two hurricanes within two weeks have caused extensive flooding in Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Hurricanes Eta and Iota have destroyed crops and forced people from their homes. MCC is working with churches and community organization to provide emergency food, hygiene supplies and cleanup support. Join us as we help these communities recover. You can donate online, by phone (888) 563-4676 or by mail at MCC, 21 S. 12th St., PO Box 500, Akron PA 17501.
