Is it possible that God wants something really good to happen in your life through this time of crisis?Today’s Image: A Seed
Find a seed that you have in your house. It could be an apple seed, an orange seed, or any other type seed. If you are feeling ambitious, find a picture on the internet that shows what this seed looks like in its fully grown form.
How many new seeds do you think this one seed might produce after it is fully grown? Keep this with you today as you reflect on what God is doing in your life this week.
READ: John 12:20-36
Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” Jesus was talking about his own life. He was talking about your life too.
For Jesus, this referred to how he would soon die on the cross. Out of perfect trust and obedience in his Father, he would take on this overwhelmingly difficult assignment, because this was the only way he could he could give life to us. Just as a seed can only produce more seeds by being planted, Jesus could only give life to you and me and countless others by dying.
God wants you to plant your life the way Jesus did. That means trusting God with your life completely, even when he asks you to do something hard. As you do so, Jesus’ life will shine through you. You will love others as Jesus loved you, and you will make an impact that will last for all eternity.
God loves you, and he wants to give you the life you were created to live. Entrust yourself to him.
Plant a seed in a small flower pot. As it grows on your window sill, let it remind you of how God is transforming you in small but significant ways each day as you trust and obey him.
PRAYER. Thank you, Jesus, for being faithful to the end.
Let your Spirit work in me so I too may be faithful to you.
