What’s Going on in the Gardens

Turtle pond is now open!

The Turtle Pond had silted up so much that it was too shallow to support all our turtles, fish, and other wildlife. Our staff dug it out to lower the bottom and increase the depth. The pond has reopened to the public!

Upper restrooms now open!

Our upper restrooms have been remodeled for ADA accessibility and also refreshed and repainted.

Butterfly Garden News

You may have noticed that the plants in the Butterfly Garden have been numbered. The next step is to make a display case that will house the map and the numbered list of plants. Also in the making is an ArcGIS Story Map of the Butterfly Garden. Each plant will have photos, a brief description, and which butterflies it attracts.

What’s in Bloom

The UCR Botanic Gardens are ever changing and throughout the year there is always something in bloom.

To enhance your visit, we feature a monthly "What's in Bloom" overview at the Gardens entrance and on our website.

Photography Policy

The UCR Botanic Gardens is largely funded by donations, memberships, and earned revenue.

The fees for admission donations and photo shoots help us provide a beautiful setting and recover some of our costs for staffing, maintenance, and operation of the Gardens.

Due to heavy demand for photo shoots, we require advance permission and charge a fee for all photo shoots (20 individuals or fewer).

To schedule a photo shoot (Thursdays, Fridays, and open Sundays), please read our NEW Photography Policy, complete the online form, and pay the required fee. Find more information on our website,
