Georgians in 71 Counties Lack Close Access to Methadone

UGA Today published a story about a study co-authored by CoP Associate Professor Dr. Jayani Jayawardhana. The story explains that 71 counties lack access to Methadone within a 15-minute drive, noting that most methadone clinics are located in non-rural areas. New Immigration Services Podcast at UGA

UGA's Immigration Services recently started Discussions Without Borders, a podcast intended to highlight the stories, cultures, research and experiences of international students. In the podcast's most recent episode, Associate Director of Immigration Services Ashley Johnson welcomes incoming international students and scholars for the Fall 2022 semester. Dr. Brian Seagraves and College of Pharmacy Receive Community Humanitarian Award

Dr. Brian Seagraves was presented with the Humanitarian Award from the Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee for the work he has done in Athens and surrounding areas in the field of viral hepatitis for the past 18 years, as well as the work he did in the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic (vaccine clinics, health screenings, etc,). The UGA College of Pharmacy was also recognized with a Humanitarian Award, which Dr. Henry Young accepted on behalf of the College. Well done, PharmDawgs!

Dr. Brian Seagraves Presents to Members of AAIP

On Thursday, August 18, Dr. Brian Seagraves delivered a continuing education presentation entitled Health Disparities in the Chronically Infected HCV Population to the AAIP members in Atlanta. The presentation included information about current HCV treatments as well as common challenges among patients receiving and/or completing treatment.
