News & Announcements

Chris Duran Promoted to IIT Manager

Congratulations to Chris Duran, an 11-year College of Pharmacy employee, who recently was promoted to Information and Instructional Technology Manager for Client Support Services, effective July 15.

In his role, previously held by Sarah Jones, who transferred to UGA’s EITS Office earlier this year, Chris is responsible for leading and managing technical teams that provide support for the College’s distance education programs as well as end-user technical support for faculty, staff, and students located in Athens, Augusta, Gwinnett, Albany, and Savannah. In addition, Chris collaborates with the College’s Instructional Design team as well as faculty to assure classroom technical design, infrastructure, and support delivery aligns with the necessary curriculum. Members of the Client Support Services team, who Chris oversees, include Andrew Wilson, David Kwiatkowski, and Ronald Jones (based in Augusta).

Ed Stanley, CoP Senior Director of Information and Instructional Technology, had words of praise for the new manager. “Chris has been the primary designer for the College’s new classroom technology. Along with being the ‘wizard behind the curtain,’ he provides direct, one-on-one support for faculty instructing classes.  And he does this with his own undeniable style. To use an IIT term, Chris is our 'classroom support ninja.' No issue is too big for him, and he takes every challenge with a smile on his face and his signature charming wit. He is a dedicated servant leader, and he is always willing to assist others. He will serve us well in his new role.”

Among his many accolades and accomplishments, Chris was a College of Pharmacy 2021 Employee of the Year nominee, and he was featured as the subject of UGA’s news feature, “Campus Close-Up” in 2021, which was picked up in CoP’s Georgia Script Magazine. Read the story here.
