Kari Brayden is a new  representative this year from HRS were she is a Class & Compensation Analyst.  Kari currently serves on the Personal & Professional Development  Committee that oversees the Staff Council Professional Development Fund and is also working on campus parking, a TEDTalk type series and more.  When Kari became a representative, she stated, "I’ve been employed at UVM for nearly 9 years (and was a student here before that). I’ve had experience in a couple of different staff roles and am excited to join a new-to-me initiative with Staff Council. Being a representative is very important work and I will do all I can to contribute meaningfully.  In my off time, I keep busy with my family in Williston, and am usually skiing, hiking, gardening, renovating something, or cheering on local youth sports from the sidelines.."

Consider joining Kari as a representative on Staff Council, Visit our representative page on our website for additional openings.

Keep checking here for details to come as both the Social Committee and Community Engagement Committee offer ways to get through the winter and into next summer with walking tour of The Fleming, bowling outing in February, bowling outing in late winter/early spring, reboot of the golf outing in Summer.  The staff book club will be reading Monstress by Lysley Tenorio this spring and wanted to announce the choice now in case anyone is looking for something to read over the break. The book consists of eight short stories, and we will be meeting to discuss the first four on Friday, February 3 at noon and the second four on Wednesday, March 8 at noon. With over 1200 attendees, the 2022 Holiday Bazaar & Food Drive was a huge success! We have so many people to thank!

Davis Center Staff
We could not have pulled this off so successfully without the amazing assistance we received from University Events Services and the Davis Center Staff, who attended to every detail! Thank you so much!

Volunteers
20 amazing folks were so generous with donating their time and energy as volunteers on the day of the event. We depend so much on this pitching-in from our colleagues and we are so grateful for the time and energy you gave us.

Sodexo
A huge thank you to Sodexo for donating coffee and tea for the vendors, and hot chocolate for visitors! The hot chocolate in particular was wildly popular and brightened a lot of folks' days.

Vendors
We couldn't have the Bazaar without our amazing, creative Vendors! Thank you to all of you for bringing your exceptional talents and friendliness to all of us!

Transportation & Parking Services
This group continually works with us each year to fine tune the parking needs of the vendors.  They are great to work with an open to our suggestions for the event.

Campus Print & Mail
For donating two of their A-Frame signs for the day to use to use outside of Davis.

Bakers, Prize Donors, & Raffle Ticket Purchasers
We sold close to $700 worth of baked goods and raffle tickets combined, thanks to our 15+ volunteer bakers! This money, along with the table fees which vendors paid, will help to fund the next year of Staff Council Social Committee events and covers the cost of many of the deep discounts offered to staff, such as for Champlain Valley Fair tickets, Smuggs Staycation and more.

We awarded nearly 100 prizes for the Raffle, donated by the craft vendors, UVM's Bookstore, local businesses and ski resorts, so a huge thank you to all those who contributed a prize!

Food Drive
We gathered several large tote bags of food donations totaling 154 pounds for  the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. Thank you to all those who contributed to helping mitigate food insecurity amongst our students and our neighbors.
