Our annual Holiday Bazaar fast approaches.  Look for this space on ways you can support and volunteer to assist on that day.  We usually have a few dozen staff members help us out on that day, its great fun.  In the meantime, mark you calendar here to be sure and attend.

Emily Harwood is a new representative this year serving the Operations & Public Safety unit where she works as a compliance specialist.  Emily serves on the Community Engagement Committee that has been bringing you the campus walking tours, book club and is working on a community garden initiative as well as volunteerism.  Emily has said, "It’s important for me to work for an organization that listens to its employees and fosters a sense of community, and I’m looking forward to being part of that mission on Staff Council. I’m interested in connecting UVM employees with each other and with the local community through various programs to build a strong inclusive society."

Thank you to Associate Professor Mark Starrett for another successful walking tour on campus, just beating out the rain on Monday.  By all accounts, it was successful and enjoyed by all.  Here are a few pictures of the event.

The Vermont Department of Health will be on campus Tuesdays and Wednesdays through October to administer flu shots and COVID-19 boosters to all interested UVM community members—faculty, staff, and students. 
Look for them in the Davis Center’s Burack Fireplace Lounge (1st floor) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday through the rest of this month.  These do not require pre-registration at this location.
The University of Vermont is committed to the health and safety of our employees. The flu shot is an integral part of keeping you, your colleagues, and your community well. 
In October and November, UVM will host several on-campus flu shot clinics for UVM employees. Clinics will be administered by professionals from UVM Medical Center and registration is required, click here.

UVM Catamount Educational Farm Apple and Vegetable Sales begin September 2 at the UVM Horticulture  Research and Education Center, 65 Green Mountain Drive, South Burlington, VT and will continue every Friday through at least November 8 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekly updates on apple varieties available will be found at our Facebook page.

The HRC is located behind GE Healthcare (former IDX) and the Heritage car dealerships off Shelburne Road in South Burlington. From Campus Follow Spear Street South to Swift Street, take a right at the light and follow Swift St to the end. Turn left on US Route 7 and travel 1.5 miles south. Turn left at the traffic light onto IDX Drive. Travel .3 miles on IDX Drive and turn left onto the Horticultural Research Center access road.

The Junior League of Champlain Valley Diaper Bank in Vermont is providing free diapers to parents in the UVM community.

If you are a new parent, have an infant or toddler and would like support in minimizing the cost of diapers, please send the size and quantity you need to

Vermont Housing Finance Agency
Vermont Housing Finance Agency has launched its Homeowner Assistance Program, which offers grants for missed payments on mortgages, utilities (water/sewer,
electricity, home heating), property taxes, and homeowner's or condominium association fees. Vermont homeowners can apply here: They have assistance for applicants available through their hotline at (833) 221-4208, including housing counseling and translation assistance through local agencies. 
The Champlain Housing Trust announced a suite of initiatives and financing options to help Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) become homeowners through its signature shared equity program.  Click to learn more.

HR 101 for Manager: A Practical Guide to Fair and Legal Supervision

Leadership and supervision is as much about understanding policy and procedure as it is about making decisions. This class will take you through some of the more prominent polices as they apply to employees here at the University. Some of the topics that will be discussed will be FMLA & VPFLA, FLSA, and Workers Compensation. We will also discuss and consider general issues of supervision in a collective bargaining environment.
