Jenna is a representative from Student & Campus Life (DOSA).  She is a Outreach Programmer, Center for Health & Wellbeing and has also served as a professor for a class or two.  Jenna is serving in her 3rd year of a 3 year term on the Community Engagement Committee where she was the co-chair the previous 2 years and also served on the Executive Board.  Jenna earned the Staff Council Yearling Award in her first year and LEAF Award for leadership in her second year. 
"I decided to join Staff Council because I want to help UVM become a more inclusive and equitable institution, especially in the staff experience.  I like creating and performing comedy, building community around antiracist work, and posting pictures of corgis on Instagram.

The Microsoft Teams meeting link will be posted prior to the
meeting on the front page of the Staff Council website, or my may join in-person at the Jost Foundation room in Davis.  Meeting agendas, minutes, and video recordings
are also available on our website. 

 All non-represented staff staff are eligible to apply. (With the ratification of the UVMSU contract, UVMSU members are no longer eligible per the Memorandum of Understanding)
The Staff Council Professional Development Fund Committee handed out 5 awards for the first quarter totaling $2350 dollars.  These funds will be used to help finance attendance to conferences, certification courses and programs to help departments work more efficiently.  Applicants came from across campus including LCOM, UES, Division of Finance and HRS.  Join is in congratulating the awardees.  2nd Quarter application period is now open.
We are also seeking information on corporate discounts from Stowe and Burke, so keep your eyes peeled.

The Staff Appreciation picnic, Social on the Green, is UVM's annual tradition to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. This year it will happen on September 19, 2022 from 11:30–1:00 on the Davis Center Green with great food, music, and conversations. Gather with staff from across the campus to reunite, reconnect, and re-energize.

Registration is now open for UVM Extension's Vermont Master Composter course, designed to teach the basics of backyard composting. 
The online course opens on September 2. Topics to be covered include the biology of composting, soil and decomposition ecology, site and container selection, compost "recipes," the compost process, troubleshooting, disease control, worm composting and Vermont's Universal Recycling Law (Act 148). The course runs for eight weeks and course materials will be available to participants until December 2. CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE

Staff SRIAC Representation
We’re excited to announce that Isabella Butzirus is the new Staff representative for the Socially Responsible Investment Advisory Council. Thank you to all who applied for your interest. SRIAC makes funding recommendations on Sustainable Campus Fund proposals, which all University community members are invited to give input on. Check out the SCF website to learn more!
UVM Catamount Educational Farm Apple and Vegetable Sales begin September 2 at the UVM Horticulture  Research and Education Center, 65 Green Mountain Drive, South Burlington, VT and will continue every Friday through at least November 8 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekly updates on apple varieties available will be found at our Facebook page.
 
Interdepartment apple orders should be submitted at: https://go.uvm.edu/appleorder. Please post them at least one week in advance.
 
Directions to the farm from campus:
The HRC is located behind GE Healthcare (former IDX) and the Heritage car dealerships off Shelburne Road in South Burlington. From Campus Follow Spear Street South to Swift Street, take a right at the light and follow Swift St to the end. Turn left on US Route 7 and travel 1.5 miles south. Turn left at the traffic light onto IDX Drive. Travel .3 miles on IDX Drive and turn left onto the Horticultural Research Center access road.

The Junior League of Champlain Valley Diaper Bank in Vermont is providing free diapers to parents in the UVM community.

If you are a new parent, have an infant or toddler and would like support in minimizing the cost of diapers, please send the size and quantity you need to graduatestudentparents@uvm.edu.  
Diapers will be available for pickup from September 9th, 2022.

Vermont Housing Finance Agency
Vermont Housing Finance Agency has launched its Homeowner Assistance Program, which offers grants for missed payments on mortgages, utilities (water/sewer,
electricity, home heating), property taxes, and homeowner's or condominium association fees. Vermont homeowners can apply here: vermonthap.vhfa.org. They have assistance for applicants available through their hotline at (833) 221-4208, including housing counseling and translation assistance through local agencies. 
The Champlain Housing Trust announced a suite of initiatives and financing options to help Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) become homeowners through its signature shared equity program.  Click to learn more.

Campus Sustainability Series: Let's Be Intersectional Environmentalists
Facilitator: Masha Shelukha, Paul Suk-Hyun Yoon, Caylin McCamp
September 29 10am - 11am

This session will lay a foundation for the rest of the series to build on by outlining the systemic root causes that many social and environmental issues share. Presenters will establish a common language and understanding within the cohort by introducing the concepts of environmental racism, climate justice and intersectional environmentalism. This session will include some prework and will be interactive. Attendees will receive resources for further learning and action steps at the end of the session.
