Message from the President 

Thank you very much to all of the teachers, parents, and debating coordinators who have supported our participants throughout the 2021 to help them achieve their best. Now that our 2021 Monday Competition has drawn to a close, we are excited to launch our 2021 Case Competition. More detailed information on the competition can be found below. 

Sponsor Spotlight- Griffith University Law School

We are thrilled to announce that the Griffith University Law School will be supporting the BGDA as a Platinum Sponsor. 

Students who attended our Grand Final on Monday were fortunate to hear from the Dean of Griffith Law School, Therese Wilson, about the committed educators and talented alumni that students attending Griffith Law School have access to during their studies. The law school is committed to gender equality and have an all-female Executive team, making them a fitting partner for the BGDA. Case Competition 

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting Case Competition again in 2021. Case Competition is free to enter for all students in grades 7-12. You can find more information about Case Competition on our website.

We encourage interested students to fill out the Register of Interest at so that they can be directly contacted with training materials, sample work, and reminders.

The topics for 2021 are as follows:
Junior: “That we should ban movies and TV shows from using child actors”
Intermediate: “That we should introduce harsher penalties for youth crime”
Senior: “We regret the rise of charities funded solely by billionaires (e.g. Bill & Melinda Gates foundation)”

Submissions are due on 28 June 2021. Detailed information about the Case Competition can be found on the 2021 Task Sheet.

  • QDU Adjudicator Training: students who are interested in becoming QDU Adjudicators ahead of the upcoming grade 5-7 QDU competitions are invited to attend a free online adjudicator training session on Thursday 3rd June at 4:30pm. Students should register here to ensure they are emailed the Zoom link.
  • QDU Junior Workshops: students in grades 5-7 are invited to attend the QDU Junior Workshops this Sunday 6th June. You can find more information here.

COVID-19 Policies 

You can find a copy of the BGDA's COVID-19 Policies on our website here. Our policies aim to manage the risk of COVID-19 by adopting precautions in line with the Queensland Department of Health's advice. We will inform you of any updates to our policies as necessary.
