Message from the President

Congratulations to all students on their fantastic performance in Round 1 and to all of the wonderful teachers who made their participation possible. It was particularly exciting to have year 7 and 8 students involved for the first time and heartwarming to see the enthusiasm and excellent teamwork skills in practice at the junior workshop. For our students in grades 9-12, Round 1 held many challenges, with many grade 9 students completing short preparation debates for the first time, grade 10s having their first debates with POIs, and grade 11 and 12 girls trying out Reply Speeches. It was excellent to hear from adjudicators that the students rose to the challenge and delivered some fantastic speeches.

Thank you to the teachers who ensured that their students arrived promptly for training and the debate, this helped the afternoon smoothly. If you have any feedback on the competition, please do not hesitate to get in touch. One change that we will be adopting in response to feedback is that the grade 9 students will now be collected at 7:00pm, not 7:30pm.

Round 2 will be held on Monday 8 March 2021. As this round coincides with International Women's Day, we will be hosting an optional dinner and demonstration debate which will conclude by 8:30pm. Please see below for more details.
