It's been a busy summer at ChatPal. Aside of our regular virtual monthly meetings we have been planning our drive to reach out to our audience with creative ideas to promote ChatPal and the downloadable App which is now available in various languages.

Insights & lessons learned

ICTS4eHEALTH conference 

On Monday 6 September 2021, Courtney Potts presented “Insights and Lessons Learned from Trialling a Mental Health Chatbot in the Wild” at the IEEE conference ICT Solutions for eHealth.

Trialling the ChatPal ChatBot has been a great learning curve for the team. An online meeting was held to discuss findings with insightful dialogue and many key drivers for taking the trailing to the next level.

Annual virtual Conference a Wrap!

Thursday 2- Friday 3 September 2021

A big thank you Thank you to Team Finland for hosting and organising a great #ChatPalConference21. Thanks also to everyone who contributed throughout the two days including our Keynote speakers. Facilitated by Kuopio - Suomi - for this year´s digital event. The Swedish version of the demo App will be announced soon. We are already looking forward to the 2022 meeting in Scotland. 

The 2021 Conference

Chris Wright

Chris Wright, National Advisor for Digital Mental Health, Scotland was one of our keynote speakers. Chris addressed the issues around Building for Large Scale Implementation. Trained Expert by Experience Oskari Ihalainen, Finland brought "My lived experiences from digital mental health services” to the virtual podium. This enlightening presentation brought the conference to a most successful close.

ChatPal on iOS

Remember not only is ChatPal available on iOS it is now available in several languages!

Originally only available on Android, the Chatpal prototype has been released on iOS and is now available on Apple devices.

SHARE Conference – Resetting the Agenda for Sustainable Healthcare 

The session on Social sustainability and sustainable development took place in May.
The aims / objectives were to describe how ChatPal can contribute to the idea of sustainable health care and promote mental well-being of people living in rural areas inFinland, Sweden, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Scotland.
ChatPal content has been designed in collaboration with mental health
professionals, mental health service users and university students and staff. All
development work is done in five different countries and with four different language
versions. The chatbot is based partly on the needs analysis workshops carried out in
the project and is based on the idea of positive psychology.

Social Welfare and Health Care Ethics in Finland 

Lauri Kuosmanen made a speech at the Summer Seminar (26 August 2021) of the National Advisory Board on Social Welfare and Health Care Ethics in Finland. His topic was: Better mental health with help from AI? Participants were advisory board members and representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland.

Alzheimer's Association International Conference - AAIC 2021 

Courtney Potts (UU) gave a talk for the ‘Technology and Dementia’ session at the virtual AAIC conference. This was an ‘on demand’ session, allowing the conference attendees to view at their leisure so the number of attendees was unknown. Courtney mentioned the ChatPal project in her talk  “Can conversational AI support people with dementia and their carers?”
