The lines of cars loop through Jubilee’s 28th Ave. parking lot and along the front of the church. At the corner of 9th Street, the chain of cars turns and lines the street toward the Jubilee’s back parking lot. Distribution Day at Jubilee.
Every fourth Tuesday of the month, Jubilee shares 1-2 tons of groceries with our neighbors. New volunteers regularly comment on how gratefully the groceries are received.
Since the pandemic, the operation of God’s Groceries adapted at a time when the need for groceries feels greater than ever. Is it only our assumptions? Are people more desperate for food than ever?
According to data from Feeding America, MS is projected to be the state with the highest rate of food insecurity in 2020. Lauderdale County’s Food insecurity rate was 19% in 2018 and projected to be 22.4% in 2020. That means almost one in four people in our county struggle to have enough to eat. For more info, check out this website:

Thank you, Jubilee, for feeding your neighbors.
Sincerely,
Duane and Elaine

Special Prayer Focus
A Prayer for those in Need
“God our sustainer, we ask you to pour your powerful Spirit into all who are empty this day: Fill the hearts of persons who are troubled. Fill the minds of men and women who are confused.
Fill the stomachs of your children who are hungry. Fill the souls of people who are feeling lost. Fill the lives of all who need you, but do not know you. May your Spirit fill us all to overflowing, dear Lord, and may we be inspired to share our abundance with others, so that there will be no more empty hearts and minds, stomachs and souls. We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who fills lives with your endless grace.”
(from The Face of Hunger)
This week we pray for...
Please pray for Al Sartain whose mother died recently.
Bonnie Allen asks us to continue to pray for her parents. Mr. Royce did not recover from his recent hospitalization. He was in the ER this week with heart issues. Bonnie would like us to pray for him and for Ms. Linda as she cares for him.
Brenda Buxton asks us to join her in praying for her Aunt, Ms. Katie Stennis. Ms. Katie is a much loved neighbor of Jubilee and she is hospitalized.
Wayne Gorrow requests prayer for Terry Gowdy, a WalMart employee who has helped us get the Monday donations streamlined. He was in an auto accident this morning on the way to work.
Celebrate...
Isela Gonzalez and her baby are showered with gifts.

Jubilee received a $10,173.61 MS Cares grant from the Community Foundation of East Mississippi. Many thanks to Wayne Gorrow for applying and completing this complicated and tedious grant. Leigh Thomas, Foundation Director, writes, “Thank you for your incredible work.”
