Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Waterloo

Thank you to all parishioners for your support and thank you for coming to pray together at mass.  I'm very grateful for the ongoing work of our parish finance council, Sister Barbara, Mrs. Patrycja, our organists, custodians, lectors, Eucharist ministers, cantors, ushers, and all volunteers who helped with our preparation to reopen our church.  Many hands make light work, we are truly blessed to have you all here at Lourdes, may we all continue our great work.  Thank you again.

with prayers
Fr. Rafal

Important items to note before coming to Mass.

Entrance and leaving of the church will only be from the main two front doors and an usher will escort Parishioners to their pew when they arrive and direct them when mass is over to leave from the back to the front pews. Seating must be done from the centre aisle and people will be asked to move over to the area designated by the ushers.  Exiting will be from the centre aisle as well.

If you have travelled outside Canada within the past 14 days, please do not enter the church until you have completed the period of self- isolation.

People with disabilities will be allowed to be put at the front of the line and if necessary an usher will have to open the side door for them if they are using wheelchairs, walkers, or crutches.

The first full pew at the front on each side will be reserved for those with disabilities and will be necessary to be used by those with disabilities.

There will be a mark on the back of the pews showing every foot in order to know if the 6-foot distancing rule is being used.  Naturally, families along with couples can sit together.  But it will be necessary to make sure the 6-foot spacing is being followed.

There will be hand sanitizers set up for people to use on the way in.  It is not compulsory at this time that they must wear a mask.

Communion will be done differently as well.  The right-hand side when facing the Altar will go first and the ushers will direct people out of the pews to go up for communion maintaining the 6-foot distance as carefully as possible.  After the right side is finished the left side will be directed by an usher to have them proceed up to communion.

The church will be filled from the front to the back.  Knowing that all parishioners would like to sit where they usually did, this is unfortunately not possible at this time.

Depending on numbers of families we feel that we will be able to seat between 90 to 110 parishioners in the church.  This may vary depending on numbers in each family.

The collection will not be taken up in the usual way. Rather, as you leave, you are asked to drop your offering in the basket located at the back of the church.

Washrooms are for emergency use only. The elevator, crying room, and choir loft will not be available for use except for the Organist and their family only can use the choir loft.

Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us

We Depend on Your Generosity

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish depends entirely on the generosity of our parishioners.

We are extremely grateful for your overwhelming support and we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support to our parish and those who are in need.

With the suspension of Sunday Mass, we urge our faithful parishioners, to continue to support Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.  At this time of significant insecurity for many people,  if you are able to continue your contribution to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, it would allow us to pay salaries and keep the buildings heated and maintained. There are four methods to make your offering:
  • Pre – Authorized Giving: through scheduled monthly or weekly transfers. Forms are available by sending an email or by calling our parish office and we will send the forms to you. Fill out the form, attach a void cheque and place the form in a sealed envelope and put it in the parish office mailbox or scan both and email to lourdeswaterloo@rogers.com
  • Drop off your weekly envelope by putting it in the mailbox in the Parish Office door off of the Parking Lot.
  • Post-dated cheques.  Instead of coming every week, put several post-dated cheques into the same envelope.
  • Electronic Giving: https://hamiltondiocese.com/covid19parishfund/
