After almost 30 years with Apple, Jony Ive, Apple's Chief Design Officer, is leaving later this year. Ive is the design mastermind behind almost everything Apple from the Apple Watch to the iMac.
Ive is leaving Apple only to start his own independent design firm. The firm will be called LoveFrom and Apple will be the primary client. Ive said he'll remain very involved with Apple design.
His sights are set on the intersection of wearable tech and health and wellbeing. He cited the inevitability of gadgets migrating onto our bodies.
Apple itself has a little uncertainty in its future after Ive's departure. A ton of patents are in Ive's name including the iPod's and the wooden tables in Apple stores (wow). Investors will be closely watching the effects of Ive leaving.
