ACOB E-Bulletin
Going out into all the world, serving + welcoming all.

One God, loving Mother and Father to us all, you have given us life. You have gathered us together. You call us to know one another as one human family: that the joys felt by some are meant for all, and the suffering of any, diminishes everyone. May we serve you faithfully by honoring our siblings.

Children's Snack Sale for HCPP | This Sunday, September 1, after worship
The children's snack shop will pop back up this Sunday! It will be the last chance to support the Homeless Children's Playtime Project. Play is an essential part of childhood but severely restricted at most shelters. HCPP's trauma-informed recreation provides developmental opportunities and psychological support as a research-based, healing force for children living in transition. Contact Suzanne with questions.

Dunker Punks Podcast Party |
Friday, September 6, 6:30-8 pm
Join in at Washington City COB for an evening of socializing, singing and listening. We will be recording a group vocal section for the new Dunker Punks Podcast theme song! Food will be provided, but you're welcome to bring potluck-style additions. After eating and chatting, we'll track the parts for the new song, listen to clips from episodes and open up for a Q+A with members of the DPP team. All friends of the podcast are welcome! Contact
Suzanne or Jacob (at the city church) with questions.

The adult Sunday School class is led by Nancy and will be reading Inspired by Rachel Held Evans this fall. Whether you're a regular participant or interested in checking out this class for the first time, you are always welcome. All are welcome to join and drop-in for Sunday School any week. Contact, Nancy or Alma with questions.

Give + Volunteer
Offer Flowers  | For the Worship Table
Volunteer to share a flower arrangement for the front of the sanctuary during worship. By keeping the arrangements in the fridge during the week, we can display your contribution for several weeks. We're currently connecting with Bethel UCC to see about inviting everyone's participation and  sharing the flowers for both Sunday services held in the sanctuary. Sign up on the sheet in the narthex and see Carol Cory (703-319-9270) with any questions.
Volunteer in the Garden  | Fall, 2019
Join in for a fall planting and harvest for AFAC. Our garden beds are in need of a little TLC, reinforcing the sides, softening and enriching the soil, and tending fall seedlings. The ideal time to plant is the last weekend of August through the second weekend of September. Contact Judy to volunteer for the fall.
