Dear Parent/ Guardian,

I hope you are having a great week. We have a lot happening at DMS this week as we wind down to Winter Break.  I wanted to extend a heartfelt thanks to those families who have supported our various drives over the course of the winter season:

  • Holiday Gift Giving Project (benefiting the Interfaith Council)- Together, we provided children with warm hats, games, dolls, bracelets, toys, and even a FitBit and a drone! We were also able to provide over $860 in gift cards.
  • RAP Food Drive (benefiting the Plymouth Area Coalition)-We were able to provide around 1,500 food items to area families in need.

Thank you for "Choosing Kind" and supporting these important efforts.

An Important Safety Reminder for Families Who Drop Off or Pick Up
Please be aware that the only location where pickups and drop offs may happen is at the front entrance of DMS.  Please ensure your child remains in your car until you get to that location; please do not allow them to exit the car before the main entrance of DMS.

Additionally, we respectfully ask that you do not drop students off at the DSU, the pool, the library, or student or staff lots on campus. Please understand that we kindly request that you follow this procedure so that our student & staff lots on campus are safe and not filled with unnecessary cars, and so that our roadways are clear of pedestrian traffic where there is no access to a sidewalk.

We appreciate your attention to this safety reminder.

Lost and Found
We have a growing lost and found collection on Main Street outside the DMS Main Office. If you think your child may have left something behind at school, please encourage him/her to stop by to see if it's there.

I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

  • We want to say thank you to the 128 families who made a donation to help us show our appreciation for our amazing DMS Staff this Holiday!  We asked and you really stepped up – thank you!
  • Thanks, too, to Kate Moriarty, Nina deCecco Walsh, Megan Marconi, Andrea Rodericks, and Jan Bruno for helping to package up the gift cards for our staff.   It is wonderful to have so many people step up to help show our staff that we appreciate their work.
  • Thanks to your donations, the PTO was able to plant two trees to live through the winter at the Middle School entrance.  They even got some little holiday decorations this week!
  • Thanks to Edith Barnes, who nominated the PTO for free chicken sandwiches from Chick-Fil-A, the custodial team will be enjoying a holiday meal this week to thank them for the hard work they put in all year long.   Thanks Edith and Chick-Fil-A!
  • We were disappointed to have to reschedule our monthly meeting last week, but please mark your calendar to join us for a specially-scheduled Jan-Feb meeting on Thursday, January 30 from 1-2pm, when School Resource Officer Mike Bolze will be our guest. Mike will introduce himself and answer questions you have about him or his job.  The School Resource Officer is an important component of how we keep our kids safe at school and in the community.

A Message from DSU

We’re happy to report that the 7th grade Whiteout was a resounding success! We are very sorry to those we disappointed due to a sold out event and to the parents and teachers who were left to manage the fallout.
A huge shout out to the 7th grade Whiteout committee who brainstormed all the details - theme, artwork, photo booth, prizes and entertainment. They even implemented the "Check your cell phone at the door service" and it provided an even playing field for everyone to dance like nobody was watching. Guests focused only on the fun and had a blast!
For those that didn’t have a chance purchase a ticket prior to the event selling out – we promise there will be more opportunities!
DSU is all about collaboration, innovation, inclusion and FUN and we want to host more weekend end events for middle school students in 2020. That means more dances, movie nights, game nights. If you like what we do, please support our mission and get involved.
Happy Holidays!
