Last year, Duxbury High School was able to revive their co-curricular club, A World of Difference. This club takes high school students and staff and provides them with rigorous training from the Anti-Defamation League to prepare them to educate younger students in districts across the state in anti-bias and community building strategies. Last year, our awesome DHS leaders came and did a number of activities with our 7th graders during iLab. This year, our high school leaders will be running three activities with our 6th graders during one iLab over the next three months. We are excited to bring this opportunity to our students again, and thankful that our high school co-curricular can benefit our students in such meaningful ways. If you would like more information on this partnership, or have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me via email at jcoyne@duxbury.k12.ma.us

A number of congratulations are in order this week as well. Our DMS Robotics club competed this weekend in the First Lego League middle school robotics competition and did a great job! Second, our DMS Drama club put on two awesome performances of the Nutcracker this weekend! Lastly, I want to congratulate our DMS students who were accepted into the Southeastern District Music Festival.  They competed with students from 100 other districts on the south shore. We had more students accepted than almost any other school!  Those students are: Jacqueline Bedard, Jillian Chee, Lydia Cho, Milo DiCostanzo, Sean Donnelly, Owen Farrell, Charlie Figler, Lena Harati, Andy Longsjo, Michael O'Malley, Phoebe Roberts, Jack Rubin, Tucker Sampson, Natalie Shepler, Karly Shifrin, Jane Stravin, Juliette Vannoz, Ava Wang, and Gavin Wargo!

  • Join us at DMS this Thursday, Dec 12 from 9:30-10:30am in the School Library when School Resource Officer Mike Bolze will be our guest. Mike will introduce himself and answer questions you have about him or his job.  The School Resource Officer is an important component of how we keep our kids safe at school and in the community - come for the coffee and stay for this important discussion!

o    PLEASE make a donation to help us show our appreciation for our amazing DMS Staff this Holiday!  This short holiday season is killing us!  We’re only halfway to our goal to provide every staff member at DMS with a token of our appreciation this holiday season.  The deadline for donations is this Thursday, 12/12 so we can purchase the gift cards and package them for the staff.  To make a cash donation to our annual Gift Card drive, click here.
o    Thank you to Fire & Stone and the families who donated salads and desserts to yesterday’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon!  Special thanks to Jennifer Coan and Edith Barnes for setting up the Breadboard, to Kristy Ladieu and Tracey Hulett for cleaning up, and to Martha Dennison for coordinating the event.  Once again, Chris and Kait Jeffcote and the Fire & Stone crew went all out to provide a special treat to our staff – the food was amazing!
