COVID-19 and Customer & Staff Health
In this newsletter, we would like to let you know what the Co-op is doing to provide groceries to our community while doing everything we can to keep customers and staff healthy.
  • We've reduced our hours and require bakery staff to operate outside of open hours.
  • We provide hand sanitizer for customer use.  Please use it upon entering and exiting the store.  If you have a mask, please use it.
  • We've instituted storewide sanitization procedures.
  • We've begun accepting phone orders and providing curbside pickup of groceries.
  • On Wednesday mornings we have designated an hour for senior shopping.
  • We will no longer accept donated plastic or paper grocery bags.  We encourage you to bring your own clean bags.
Details are included in this newsletter.
Temporary HOURS of Operation
Beginning Tuesday, March 23rd and continuing through Friday, April 24th, 2020 our hours of operation will be:
  • Monday through Friday:  11 am through 6 pm
  • Wednesday's from 10 am through 11 am we will be open to seniors ONLY
  • Saturday:  12 noon through 4 pm
We are implementing reduced staffing hours to one shift per day to reduce exposure of our employees to the COVID-19 virus.  With only one employee working each day, our ability to serve customers may be slower than usual and we appreciate your patience and kindness.
Senior Shopping Hours
Wednesday's from 10 am through 11 am.

During this hour, the store will be open ONLY to our most vulnerable population, our Seniors.

Additionally, all day Wednesday, seniors (who are Co-op members) will receive a 10% discount on all store purchases.
Kettle Crust Bakery - Temporary Reduction in Production
The Governor of Washington State has required the temporary closing of all restaurants.  To honor this important requirement, the bakery/deli will not be providing any food to be consumed on site.  We will not be serving any soups or hot entrees and we have closed our on-site indoor and outdoor eating areas.

However, we will continue to provide wrapped food that can be eaten off site.  Grab & Go food will include:
  • Wraps and sandwiches
  • Cookies
  • Muffins and/or scones
  • Hot coffee in to-go cups
To reduce exposure to customers, we are requiring our bakery staff to complete all Grab & Go food preparation outside of our normal business hours.  This restriction is likely to reduce our ability to offer a wide range of Grab & Go items.

We thank you for your patience during this period of "social distancing".

Supply Chain Challenges
Please be aware that COVID-19 is not only challenging our community, but also the entire United States, and also the entire World.  Whenever possible, we source locally -- but for most of what we carry on our shelves we source across the United States and occasionally from other countries.

Our ability to stock our shelves is dependent on many people who do not work at the Co-op.  People that work in the manufacturing of food, people working in fields and on farms, truck drivers and warehouse workers, etc.  Many global hands are necessary to feed the small community of Ferry County.

During COVID-19 everyone should expect interruptions in service.  Our ability to have in stock every item on your shopping list may go unfilled.

As an example, during last weeks produce order of the 20 items we ordered, three were filled.  And, just this weekend, our usual Saturday order ended up arriving on Sunday.

Our staff will do their absolute best to ensure we have what you need, but again -- THANK YOU for you patience and kindness.

Sincerely,
Ferry County Co-op Staff & Managers and your member elected Board of Directors
