Dear Friends,
We hope this message finds you well during this challenging time – in Israel, the United States and globally.
The COVID-19 crisis has also brought about a rise in incidents of domestic-violence in Israel, including seven murders of women at the hands of their partners. We have been following the news reports with deep concern and sadness and have also had occasion to speak out publicly several times on national radio.
We want to bring to your attention two recently published media-items in English:
- Nancy Strichman's blog-piece on "the other pandemic", describing the role of battered women’s shelters in addressing domestic violence in Israel.
- An op-ed contribution by Woman to Woman's Executive Director, Naomi Schneiderman, originally published in Hebrew in Israel's Daily Haaertz, in which she calls for greater public recognition of the comprehensive therapeutic model offered to women and children in shelters, alongside new initiatives for intervention and prevention.
We hope you find these articles informative and meaningful and that they impart a clear perspective on Woman to Woman's role both as a direct service provider and as an ongoing participant in the campaign to eradicate violence against women and children.
Best regards and warm wishes for good health!
