January 2022

Extremely chilly and windy conditions. My house is by a four-way intersection, and the wind forms a vortex. So, last night, a can got caught in the wind and kept rolling back and forth across the tarmac until it was run over by a car and the noise ended.

I saw the fancy dogs this morning. They are two canines who stand out for always being well-groomed and outfitted in crimson winter jackets. They don't interact with the other dogs at the park. They stroll through the zebra crossing in a really honourable manner.

It snowed this morning! It's not often, but it happens once or twice a year throughout the winter. It generally disappears during the day. I'm heading to Szechenyi today to soak in the hot water. It's approximately 0 degrees Celsius today, so it's lovely to be in the hot water outside!
Turned out to be a lovely winter's day!
Unfortunately, I discovered that one of my favorite restaurants, Ferencz József Étterem és Söröző, is now permanently closed. They opened in 1999, and I've been there many many times. The wienerschnitzel with potato salad was always a treat. The cucumber salad was authentic.

It's still chilly outside, so it's best to stay indoors most of the time. I'm planning three releases in the following months. They are all piano works with the working titles Waltz, Dream Legacy, and Waterdrops.

The first will be launched in the middle of March, followed by the other two in April and May. It's what I'm focusing my entire working day on right now.

Just finished a good 3 days with uninterrupted time of composing!

This was a fantastic week!

Except for Wednesday before lunch, when they began drilling and hammering with hammers two floors down! But the rest of the week was calm, so I'm crossing my fingers! Otherwise, 5 full days of undisturbed composing time. I can't recall the last time I had this opportunity.

So the weekend called for some downtime. Of course, Széchenyi and soak in the hot thermal water. Then there was this restaurant I'll never go back to.

In the evening, there was a fantastic event at Müpa called A Celebration of Folk Music. There were some amazing performances. From the program: "Not every performer in the 2022 gala show will play folk music in its original form. Some will combine it with other genres, others will use it as inspiration for original songs, though the shared roots will be the same throughout the evening, regardless of the fact that we will hear music from a wide array of different people and territories."

Among the intriguing and great musicianships, my two favorites were Erdőfű, who performs true "táncház" (dance house) music from the former Hungarian areas of the Carpathian Basin. Then there was the folk-rock band Bohemian Betyars and the internationally famous Parno Graszt from the Hungarian town of Paszab. During their performance, there was spontaneous dancing in Müpa. Something I'm unlikely to see anytime soon!!!
