On this #GivingTuesdayNow, help us bring brand new music to life via livestream!
To all our friends and supporters,
COVID-19 has challenged us: as a world, a nation, a community, and as individuals, each of us has been impacted in ways we could never have anticipated. We've had to reevaluate our priorities, change the way we live and interact, and anticipate a future that remains elusive and fluid.
It's been quiet, musically speaking, but the artists and professionals who make PARTCH Ensemble what it is wanted to reach out to our friends and supporters, to let you know we are here and we're ready to make music again...and like all of us whose work, concerts, events, and offerings were canceled as a result of these challenges we have witnessed, we're working on bringing our work back to the stage in a way that has impact, meaning, and brings joy to a city that needs light now more than ever.
We are proud to announce that the first phase of our new Commissions Project is nearing its conclusion: six brand new compositions written especially for our ensemble and its unique collection of Partch-designed instruments have been commissioned from six different composers. Scores and parts have been delivered, and players are currently working their parts up to performance-ready.
Currently, we are negotiating a plan that will allow us to premiere these works via livestream: audiences will be able to tune in and watch the premiere performances of these works in a live recording session, then to be compiled and made available on a new album. Never before has careful planning around shared social spaces been so critical to sharing performance-based art forms, which is why we will announce the date of this livestream event only when we are certain we can execute it safely.
Today is a special day: #GivingTuesdayNow was created specifically for this time, to present an opportunity for individuals to make an impact through the simple act of giving. Your support goes directly to helping us premiere our new Commissions via Livestream, and is essential for this music to see its own daylight.
We persevere...we forge ahead, as the only path we see is one that leads us forward. Join us on our journey, help support our ensemble as we continue our mission to share the music and instruments of Harry Partch with the world, and bring new life and innovation to contemporary music everywhere.
