HP Team Gets Boost As Olympian Renuga Joins!
Welcome to this edition of 'The Shuttler', Australia's national Badminton e-newsletter and the home for all your badminton related stories. In this issue we have plenty of awesome stories for our final edition of 2020 starting with the appointment of Olympian, Commonwealth Games representative, and Australian Badminton royalty, Renuga Veeran to the position of National Development Coach. A New Brand For Badminton On the Horizon!
Mark the 15th of December in your calendar as an important day for some very exciting developments to the look of Badminton in Australia, a new look for State Badminton organisations and a new look for the Australian badminton team - keep an eye on social media for a new national badminton brand, national team name and a new national badminton website!
Kelly Hoare Elevated To BWF Assessor!
Western Australian Kelly Hoare has been an umpire for the Badminton World Federation for a number of years and has recently been appointed to the role of BWF Umpire Assessor. Kelly has umpired at a variety of events including Olympic Games, World Championships, Sudirman Cup and many international events. We would like to congratulate Kelly on her appointment!
Badminton WA Stocks Up On BWF Level 1 Coaches!
Badminton Western Australia recently ran the second weekend of the BWF Level 1 Coaching course, the last time the course was run in WA was in 2018! The course had 16 attendees take part and was run by Badminton Oceania Coaching and Development Officer Ian Bridge with Ryan Lin alongside for assistance. A great result for Badminton WA's future players!
Louisa Ma Shares Her Story From Lockdown!
After finishing on the podium at the VICTOR Oceania Championships 2020 in Ballarat, Lousia wasn't expecting to be locked up at home for the next six months! Louisa, a member of Badminton Academy of Victoria, shared her experience of lockdown in Melbourne and the impact it had on her training, access to her social connections and some good out of the whole experience!

Shuttle Time Skills From Badminton South Australia!
Badminton South Australia have been conducting plenty of Shuttle Time programs through 2020. As part of every program the kids will have the chance to take part in a variety of fun games and skill work. The Badminton South Australia team have filmed a few different skills and posted them to their YouTube channel!
Seasons Greetings To Our Badminton Family!
We couldn't put together our December issue of The Shuttler without wishing you all a Happy Holiday period! 2020 has been a year of ups, downs and round arounds, and throughout the year badminton has still continued, from playing at home against the wall, to taking the game to beach or park, badminton has found a way to continue! We would like to wish you a safe break and we'll see you all again very soon!
Para badminton World Championships Locked In!
Earlier last month the Badminton World Federation announced that they had locked in the venues for the next two Para badminton World Championships. Japan will host the championships in 2021 and Thailand will host the 2023 championships with both countries "Providing the opportunity for the best athlete experience".  
New Badminton Hit Single?
As far as hits go this video produced by Snask might not make the Top 100 on the charts but the quirky song played by Darwood Music might just give a smile for the day. Snask say they made this video as a tribute to one of their lifelong loves and because their first WiFi password was "badminton". Sit back, relax, put on some headphones and have a listen!
Athlete of The Month!
Citra Putri Sari (left) is a former member of the Singaporean national badminton team, however she has moved to Australia and is loving her badminton here in Australia! Citra took part in the Aeroplane Badminton NSW Open representing her club Kellyville Badminton Club, and won the WD! Great to see athletes of Cirta's calibre getting involved in their local state tournaments, well done Citra!
Past Olympian Locks Away Hero of The Month!
Lenny Permana has represented Australia internationally as coach and player, she has played at the Olympics (04), Commonwealth Games (02), Sudirman Cup, Uber Cup the list goes on! She has been recently awarded the John Landy Scholarship to ad to her long list of accolades. An absolute superstar in her own right, and definitely worthy of Hero of the Month congratulations Lenny!
SPOC Star Certificate Locks Club Of The Month!
St Peter's Old Collegiate Badminton Club (SPOC) were recognised as a STAR club by Sport & Recreation SA. STAR clubs are clubs who are run exceptionally well and are seen as great community institutions. For this reason we couldn't go past SPOC in awarding them our Club of The Month for December! Well done SPOC, a great achievement!
